I took a nice ride on the bike yesterday to the store and found a new road home along the train tracks. It was a beautiful afternoon. We had some heavy rain earlier in the day and then it cleared and turned into a sticky but pretty night. This week is Obon where people welcome their ancestors who have passed away back into their homes. It is a lot of work for the women of households who must clean their house and prepare special meals. There are also festivities in the area so I hope to make it out to one of the bigger ones in Nagasaki City. It may require an adventure on the train but I hear it would be worth it!
